This 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 offers V12 power, rare RHD, and timeless design

This 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 Roadster, finished in yellow with a black leather interior, is a rare original right-hand drive model equipped with a 4-speed manual gearbox. It comes with its original factory hardtop, power steering, and air conditioning, making it both desirable and practical for regular use.

The E-Type, first unveiled at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, became Jaguar’s most iconic sports car, praised for its flowing lines and exhilarating performance. In response to competitors increasing engine sizes, Jaguar introduced the Series 3 in 1971 with a newly designed 5.3-liter V12 DOHC—the UK’s first mass-produced 12-cylinder engine. Producing around 270 hp, it delivers smooth, abundant torque, refined power delivery, and a quiet, silky operation. Even today, it remains celebrated for its drivability, with high-speed stability enhanced by the extended wheelbase.

This model offers more interior space and comfort than earlier E-Types, making long-distance touring more practical. Power steering reduces the effort needed for maneuvering, while the in-house Jaguar gearbox provides precise and satisfying shifts. Despite its size and performance, fuel consumption remains reasonable at around 5–6 km/L.

Design is a defining strength of the Series 3 Roadster. The elongated profile, split bumpers, subtly flared fenders, and classic wire-spoke wheels give it timeless elegance. With the hardtop fitted, its side profile is distinctly different from the coupe, adding to its versatility. Center-lock hubs allow for traditional British sports car wheel fitting.

Imported from the UK to Japan in 1980, this car has been carefully maintained by successive owners. The body, chrome, and mechanical systems remain in good condition, with the engine running strongly and the gearbox operating smoothly. The brakes are effective, and the steering is light and responsive. This is a well-preserved, ready-to-drive example of one of Britain’s greatest sports cars, offering both collector appeal and everyday usability.
