Nissan R32 Skyline GT-R EV

At the “Tokyo Auto Salon 2025” held at Makuhari Messe this past January, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. showcased a concept model of the R32 Skyline GT-R converted to EV, named “R32EV,” as a reference exhibit.
The development leader is Mr. Ryozo Hirako of Nissan, and the aim was to reproduce the “analog enjoyment” of the R32 with an EV and pass it on to the future.
The R32EV, while maintaining an exterior almost identical to the original, adopts a front and rear dual-motor 4WD system for its powertrain. The motors and battery share the same specifications as the Leaf Nismo RC02, generating a total output of 320kW and 680Nm of torque. To compensate for the increased vehicle weight (1797kg), the motors have been adjusted to achieve an acceleration feel similar to that of the gasoline-powered R32.
Furthermore, the braking system utilizes Brembo brakes from the R35 GT-R, with tuning adjustments made to accommodate the weight increase. The wheels are 18-inch aluminum replicas of the R32’s original design. The fuel filler has been converted into a charging port, and the exhaust outlets have been removed from the rear bumper.
The bodywork retains the original colors and parts, utilizing a vehicle in remarkably good condition as its base. This concept can be seen as an attempt to convey the allure of the R32 to future generations as a ‘digitally remastered’ version.
